It’s Thursday afternoon and my studio table is a happy disaster.

Hand painted swatch cards drying, a large protein smoothie somewhere behind the wax, Confetti Cakes and PIGMENT BARS in boxes ready to package, stacks of USPS priority mail ready to be shipped, Indie curled up in the one patch of sun on the floor.

I’ve been heads-down in color and wax for several months now… and I realized I haven’t actually sat down and talked to you about any of it lately.

So tomorrow I’m popping into the paint studio, and hosting a pop-up #tracibautistaCOLOR YouTube live on Friday!

Spend your afternoon with in the studio me before the holiday weekend! Just me, our lovely community, and lots of colorful handcrafted paint, and we’ll PLAY with color and wax while we catch up. Come hang out!

WAX.PAINT.PLAY LIVE: mixed media workshop ~ July 9

Those wax technique cards I’ll show you tomorrow? You’ll create a series of them in the WAX.PAINT.PLAY LIVE workshop. It’s a live workshop where you melt, layer, and PLAY your way through four wax techniques, and you walk away with your own set of technique cards to keep working from. Replay is included if you can’t make it live.

• Palette knife + heat work for texture, layering, and scraping back
• Monoprinting with the Wax Printmaking Bars

A little Collage Unleashed news

​My first book, Collage Unleashed, turned 20 at the end of May. Twenty years! I still can’t quite believe it...what a milestone. If you're new around here, this book was the springboard for everything I've taught over the past 25+ years. I’ve got something in the works to celebrate later this summer, and I’ll be sharing the details soon. Excited to tell you more!

Pull three colors that don’t obviously belong together. The ones you’d usually keep apart. Swatch them side by side in your sketchbook and sit with it. Sometimes the combination you’d never plan is the one that opens a whole collection. Enjoy the process. PLAY.
