Yesterday I spent the morning watching the golden light rise over the water here in Hawaii, sand still on my toes, my travel swatch journal and a medley of #tracibautistaCOLOR URBAN PETALS collection spread across my beach blanket, Aloha Collection bags full of my fave mixed media travel art supplies, and multiple sketchbooks laid out on the sand.

I filmed a little video while I was painting and sketching on the beach, you’ll get a peek at my traveling art supply kit and the real-time process.

A morning ritual when I’m visiting my family. Includes my sunrise 🌅 studio PLAY sessions at the beach. All week I’ve been mixing the ocean into my pages: abstract mark making, teal blending into warm sand into that beautiful pastel skies that eventually fade to deep coral the sky turns right before dark.

It has me thinking about the wax capsule collection waiting back in the studio, and this last quiet stretch before the doors close.

​The URBAN PETALS: Concrete Bloom wax capsule closes Tuesday 6/16 at 11:59pm PT. Each color is small-batch and hand-poured. Once the doors close, this round is gone.

Before you go, a little Studio Spark:

Pick a journal page that’s ready for another layer, then:

• Scribble a few marks with a PIGMENT BAR
• Blend a Confetti Cake and smear it across the top with a palette knife
• Play with Scgrafitto mark making ~ Scratch back through the soft wax with the end of your brush or knife so the color underneath peeks through
• WAX RESIST ~ Brush watercolor or a mineral ink wash over the top. The wax resists and the color blooms around it
